Bold, Brave, Brilliant and absolutely Beautiful… Clear Architects have set the bar at a staggering height with this project; featuring charred Accoya cladding. The design captures the very essence it set out to, juxtapose the 130 year old property it sits next to and a legacy of modern Architecture.
Samples were created and presented. These were received with an overwhelming welcome by the planning committee. This project stamps a first for such a complex cladding arrangement in the UK.
The specialist profiled cladding is 44mm thick; with each of the profiles in multiple and different angles. Each piece of the cladding had its own design, it’s pride and its place. Set out and spaced to millimetre perfection with the black tip fixings.
Decorum.London created this installation by working with the material manufacturer at ShouSugiBan®. The facade frame work was initiated by the aluminium framework. This was set out by Nvelope® 6 and installed by the team at Decorum. The aluminium coated insulation fitted with precision between the aluminium rail system, this was prior to the Use Class 3 treated timber battens. The cladding was the finishing element to this landmark cladding project. Treated with specialist oils created specifically for this use by Owatrol.
Karl said “I’ve not seen anything like this before, it really set the bar high in terms of Architectural cladding, the building is beautiful”
The cladding was created in a collaboration between Clear Architects and Karl Harrison. Furthermore, a complex manufacturing process was also required due to the arrangement of the timber, Exterior Solutions Ltd took care of this, it was a slow process due the many different angles. Nevertheless, the cladding was produced to a first-class finish. The ShouSugiBan®, created with Charred Accoya in the Shizen 自然 finish.
The cladding spanned an impressive area in excess of 600 sqm The project did take some time. Accuracy was the key; this project was special and nothing was rushed. The finish couldn’t be compromised no matter what.
Regular site meetings between Decorum and the Architect ensured an efficient project. There were also many additional works undertaken by Decorum, the main contractor had the works schedule and as Decorum had the ability, why not.
Furthermore, Decorum.London has a substantial cladding portfolio, this sits within a well-established history of professional Garden design and Landscaping. Decorum.London are a team of capable tradesmen with experience; your project is in the hands of people who care.
